Witches of East End | TV Show Review

If you love beautiful women or handsome men, witches and warlocks, love and drama, then you'd probably love this TV show!

WARNING: This show is for mature audiences (please don't watch this with your kids) and has homosexual themes as well. So if you're not comfortable with any of those then you should just click away.

Now, for all of you who stayed. WELCOME! And please feel free to join in my obsession~

To be honest, I didn't really think much about this TV show when iFlix suggested it to me a couple of weeks ago. But I was tired of the X-Files and didn't want to watch Stargate Atlantis again so I just clicked on it and tried it out.

I love supernatural genres. Witches, ghosts, monsters and aliens are all up my alley.

At first glance, I thought this show could be a little bit like Charmed. If you don't know Charmed, it's a 90s TV show that tells the story of three sisters who are witches and their adventures. Witches of East End is centred around a family of 4 witches and boy do they love drama. Whew!

Now, moving on.

Witches of East End revolves around 4 witches who were cursed. Joanna Beauchamp is the mother of Ingrid and Freya Beauchamp both of whom didn't know that they were witches in the beginning. It was all happy happy until Joanna's estranged sister, Wendy Beauchamp, suddenly shows up saying that Joanna is in danger.

Without revealing too much, long story short, Joanna's daughters find out that they're withches and now they have to start learning to control their powers all while juggling trying to live normal lives and relationships.

From left to right: Wendy, Ingrid, Joanna and Freya Beauchamp
Before I go any further, let me explain some really cool things about this story.

All the Beauchamps are actually witches who came from Asgard. Yes, Asgard the same place Thor and Loki are from. They are banished there by Joanna and Wendy's father, who apparently is a power-crazy scary mofo who overthrew the previous monarchy because he was corrupted by this cursed object.

So the Beauchamp family (including Joanna's husband, Victor) apparently led a rebellion against him, which they lost. Then he curses them and banishes them to our world, the human world. Joanna also has a son who is Freya's twin, Frederick Beauchamp. He betrayed them by siding with his grandfather. Yeah. TwT

Joanna is cursed with immortality and must see her daughters live and die over and over again. Wendy is cursed with only 9 lives, like a cat, which is an animal which she can transform into.

So the whole Beauchamp family has lived through hundreds of years of Earth's history. Even the Salem witch hunts and stuff like that.

Because Joanna and Wendy live so long and because Wendy and Ingrid have been reborn countless times, they have made a number of enemies.

However, enemies aren't the only things that have stuck with them throughout the ages.

Cue these two and of course, Dash and Killian.

It seems like Freya and Ingrid's destinies are intertwined with older brother Dash Gardiner (left) and younger brother Killian Gardiner (right). In fact, everything started on Freya and Dash's engagement party (Episode 1) when Killian shows up and he and Freya share a kiss. Yeah, she kissed her fiance's little brother. Dramaaaaaaaa.

It was kind of annoying to watch Freya be so indecisive but then again, I understand. She's been reborn countless times with no recollection of her past lives. Plus, she just found out she's a witch.

If you don't know how finding out that you're a witch would make things worse, well... You'll see.

Just like the Beauchamp sisters, Dash and Killian have also been reborn countless times. There was no explanation why but it seemed like all of them were destined to make everything impossibly complicated for one another. Oh, did I mention Dash and Killian are freakin' warlocks in this life? Yeah. They're warlocks.

Okay, okay I'll stop.

I want you to decide to watch this show because I really enjoyed it. But before I leave you with more information about Witches of East End, here's some good news and bad news.

Good news: There are 2 seasons
Bad news: There are ONLY 2 seasons

Lifetime had decided to cancel Witches of East End after dropping a number of giant freaking anvils on us. I can't believe the show ended after all that **** that happened at the end of season TWO!

I will not spill any spoilers. You will have to watch the show for yourself.

Unfortunately, I have to add this show into the list of 'Cool Shows that were Ended too Soon' and then I'll go cry in a corner.

Other shows that have been cancelled too soon include:
  • Fireflies
  • Pushing Daisies
  • Dracula
  • Dead Like Me
You can still watch this show on Iflix or online!

If you've already watched the show, well good for you (I hope you're not heartbroken it ended)!

And if you don't plan to watch the show, suggest a TV show that I should watch (not Vampire Diaries plis) and I might just check it out! ^^
