Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice Movie Review

I got the opportunity to watch this movie although I didn't have high hopes for it. Here's what I thought about it. WARNING: SPOILERS!

Let's start with the trailer.

I made the mistake of watching the movie trailer before watching the movie. I felt like I had watched the whole movie after watching it and was totally put off by it. I didn't really like the new Batman movies because they were a little too dark for my liking. I grew up watching a sassier and funnier Batman. Not Gotham's most emo superhero.

If you haven't watched the movie, stop reading. Spoilers ahead!

There are a number of questionable moments in the movie. Let me add that I laughed quite a bit at some parts when I wasn't supposed to because the logic just wasn't there.

● How can Superman know when Lois Lane is in trouble but not his mom?
Lois was basically thrown off a building and saved just in time by Superman. If I'm not mistaken, he was traveling and was somewhere else in the states talking to this hallucination of his dad. If it was just good timing, then how did Lex Luthor know that Superman was back in town? Can you imagine if he did what he did and Superman wasn't there? End of movie. lol

● Why did Superman let himself be beat up by Batman?
This is Superman we're talking about. He's a bulletproof alien who can fly, has super strength and shoot lasers out of his freakin' eyes. Why didn't he just hold Batman in place (by the neck or something) and just explain the situation? He totally had the strength in the beginning.

● Why is the data room next to the kitchen?
It's hard to believe Lex Luthor left his hardrives with senstitve and important information unguarded and right next to the kitchen? Come on. It shouldn't have been easy to steal that information from him.

●Wonder Woman's theme song was like a spy movie theme.
Need I explain this?

The bystanders are idiots.
In the beginning, the alien spaceship lands and Superman starts getting into a fight that begins to destroy the city. If it were me, I'd be out of that building even before Superman showed up with his bright red cape. You don't need a call from your CEO to tell you to get out of the building. Where is your need for self-preservation?

Okay, okay. I think I've bashed this movie enough. Here are some of the points I did like.

● Wonder Woman's casting
I like how she wasn't just another white woman fished out of the already whitewashed Hollywood pool. Good job.

● Alfred
Alfred is the sassiest. I loved all his little snarky comments and exchanges with Bruce. He reminded me a little bit of Tony Stark with his glasses, hair and style. In fact, he could totally play the role of an older Howard Stark.

● The Mutants
I loved when they showed all the other DC characters. Specifically Cyborg, Aquaman and the Flash. Hoping that their movies would be better than this one

Funny moments
There are a couple funny moments that I remember distinctly.  One was when Superman was crashing Batman's Batmobile by just standing there and the part where Martha (Superman's mom) made that comment about the cape. If you've seen it then you know what I'm talking about.

***

Overall, I think this movie was okay. I left out a bunch of other opinions from this post so as not to overflow it with negativity. Although the movie wasn't executed as well as it could have been, it was okay. If it wasn't for my friends, I surely would have fallen asleep, like how I fell asleep during Man of Steel.

One thing to keep in mind while watching this movie is that this is an interpretation of Batman and Superman. If you're a fan of the comics, then just keep in mind that this is just another writer's take on this story. After all, there are different universes with different characters in the comics as well. Don't be caught up in what you think Batman or Superman should be.

Would I watch it again? Nope. Never. I didn't even finish Man of Steel. lol

Will I recommed you to watch it? No.

What did you think of the movie? Did you love it? Hate it? Tell me why in the comments and thanks for reading! :)
